Broke Down is a community radio station in Philadelphia, PA.
We broadcast on air at 1650 AM, and online at broke-down.org.
II.
Broke Down is seeking members.
We are looking for artists and DJs interested in exploring creative, abstract ways to utilize the public radio airspace. We welcome regular, recurring programming or one-off broadcast events.
III.
Broke Down is currently intermittent and itinerant.
We broadcast on-location from concerts, galleries, markets, parties, parking lots, temporary studios, etc. We broadcast as opportunities arise for whatever duration is appropriate. We hope to also develop a recurring programming schedule to supplement live site-specific events.
IV.
Broke Down is seeking a long-term physical HQ.
Ideal studios would have 24/7 access, and be on the top floor with roof access in West Philadelphia, but we are open to compromise. We are willing to share a space.
V.
Broke Down is run on volunteer time and donations.
If you would like to support us financially or materially, please reach out. Currently, any money will be used to upgrade transmitters, antennas, and studio equipment.
VI.
Broke Down is a non-hierarchical, autonomous project.
By design, the founding members intend to phase themselves out of "leadership" roles. We are seeking members and collaborators interested in growing the station within this collectivist, co-op model.
